For millions of fans of cousin Eddie’s RV, the Christmas vacation wouldn’t be complete without an annual viewing of ‘National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, a movie released in 1989.
Edward “Eddie” Johnson, the lead character in the movie, is a cousin to Ellen Griswold. He breaks into Ellen’s house when the Griswold family is hosting the family Christmas festivities. Cousin Eddie’s character is hilarious and embarrassingly crosses the line of appropriate behavior multiple times.
He tops off the inappropriate behavior when cousin Eddie announces the plan to park his BIG RV (Recreational Vehicle) in front of the Griswold home. Along with cousin Eddy, this tenement on wheels is the movie’s real star!

Cousin Eddy is played by Randy Quaid. Randy Quaid once said that to get into the skin of the essence, he applied the characteristics of a person he knew while growing up in Texas. This is one of the most famous characters played by Randy Quaid.
What is cousin Eddy’s RV – The RV or’ tenement on wheels’ used in the movie was a broken down 1972 Ford condor II. During the 1980s, The RV had fiberglass and aluminum construction. The motorhome in the film must have seen better days before it became a part of the movie.
Ford Condor class A Motorhome was considered a luxury RV with deluxe creature comforts. The vehicle shown in the movie displays every bit of its 15 years of age when the film was released. But this RV worked as an essential backdrop in enhancing the dilapidated state of cousin Eddy and loved by everyone.

The scene in the film where Cousin Eddie empties the waste tank of his RV on a brisk winter’s morning has become almost as synonymous with Christmas as Santa clause himself. While emptying the sewer tank, he is wearing nothing but a robe and a winter cap while holding a beer and smoking a cigar.
What happened to Cousin Eddie’s RV
Mark and Dana Claus acquired the memorable RV from a props shop in Los Angeles, California. While doing so, they thought it would be a great addition to their unique Christmas-themed Museum, Castle Noel, in Medina, Ohio.
However, in September 2014, Mark Claus found that somebody had vandalized the RV. A juvenile was accused of this vandalizing act. The RV was damaged to some extent in this vandalizing incident.
Where is Cousin Eddie’s RV today?
Cousin Eddie’s RV is in the Castle Noel Museum, Medina, Ohio. In addition to Cousin Eddie’s RV, there are a lot of other attractions to enjoy during the Christmas vacation. As the museum describes, Castle Noel is America’s largest indoor year-round Christmas entertainment attraction.
